Situated just a mile away from the beach, our “retail cottage” in Santa Monica was designed by the architects at Messana O’Rorke to channel the soft, relaxing feeling of being by the sea. What was once a pet grooming salon was reinvented with pale oak floors and marble slab walls that carve out the retail space.
Nine black wood shelving fixtures filled with products line one wall, interspersed with vertical fluorescent light tubes reminiscent of a Dan Flavin installation. As a final homage to the previous retailer occupying the space, a larger-than-life portrait of Mr. Greenberg hangs behind the reclaimed oak and marble sales counter.
