Dr. Daniel Slaton (or as he is most commonly known “Dr. Dan”) has been caring for START Rescue’s precious fur babies as well as our personal kids for many years. We followed him from Westlake Village to Sherman Oaks and now back to his brand new clinic in Westlake Village! He is knowledgeable, innovative and above all goes the extra mile for each of his patients. To give you an example: July 2013, START Rescue rescued a pitbull that had been set on fire with fireworks. No other rescue would step up for him due to the severity of his injuries. We named him Indy. We rushed him to Dr. Slaton who enlisted the help of Dr. Grossman of the Grossman burn center. Indy received skin grafts and therapy. We could not have asked for better care. Dr. Dan even attended the court hearings after the man who set Indy on fire was prosecuted. Another example is my personal dog, Stella. She was diagnosed with parathyroid tumors. These minuscule tumors are very hard to see. Dr. Dan assembled a team and came in early on Sundays to perform not one but two separate and very delicate surgeries. Know that if you bring your fur baby to Dr. Dan he will treat him/her like his own family.

Dr. Slaton is a breath of fresh air! It’s been so difficult to get consistent vet care in this area. His office is welcoming and the staff is great even with my “ challenge” of a Shiba Inu!
