Join us at Annenberg PetSpace for a series of dog training classes. This course is intended for those who completed a beginner level.
About this event
Wallis Annenberg PetSpace invites you and your dog to join us for our Mutt Manners Intermediate Dog Training Class. These four, one-hour classes are designed for dogs that are comfortable with new dogs and people and want to improve their manners.
Our Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Katie McGuire, CDBC, CPDT-KA, will help your four-legged friend learn a host of new tricks and behaviors.
The Mutt Manners Intermediate Class will feature the following lessons:
Introducing distance, duration, and distraction with previously-trained behaviors like Stay and Come When Called
Learn fun new tricks that you can practice with your pet
Perfect loose leash walking skills
Stationing on a bed or place
Introduce the heel position and proper manners for introductions
Preparation and training for real world scenarios
Introduction to exercises similar to those in Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog Testing
If your pet completed Mutt Manners Beginner class, a similar beginner group class through another training organization, or has an understanding of beginner-level obedience (sit, down, stay, come when called, leave it, and loose leash walking), then this class is for you! Dogs do not need to have mastered these skills, but should have a basic understanding.

Safety Information:
Participants' – both pet parents and their dogs – health and safety are our highest priority. This means that all dogs must be up to date on their vaccines (DHPP, Rabies, Bordetella). Please bring proof of vaccinations to the first class, or submit via email with your two waivers below.
To save time at check-in, please fill out your waiver and email your dog's vaccination records to programs@annenbergpetspace.org
Additionally, please note that this class is designed for dogs who are comfortable with new dogs and people. If your dog is reactive or becomes overexcited around new dogs and people, we suggest you register for a class that can specifically help your pet become calmer around other dogs and environments before joining this session.
Please note the following guidelines and reminders in advance of the class:
• Dog handlers must be 13 years of age or older
• Dog handlers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
• There must also be at least one adult present for every child under the age of 13
• There is only one handler allowed per dog. If more than one person is attending with a dog, one person will be designated to participate as the handler and additional attendees will observe
• Dog handlers must wear closed toed shoes and long pants
• Dog handlers must bring a six-foot, non-retractable leash
• Dogs must wear a flat collar, cloth Martingale or harness (no choke chains or prong collars)
• We recommend avoiding giving treats to your dog for a few hours prior to class, and only a light breakfast if necessary- a hungry dog is a motivated learner!
• Please bring plenty of your dog’s favorite treats!
