It is tough to have a bad day at the beach, pretty much impossible if you have your furry friend with you! We went to Rosie's Dog Beach today as it was 81 degrees outside and perfect beach weather. We were not alone! There were well over 100 dogs at the beach of all shapes and sizes having a blast running around with each other chasing balls, Frisbee, and digging for gold in the sand! There were also lots of families, couples and individuals there socializing and soaking up the sun. You definitely want to bring sunscreen, water and a water bowl. Not to mention you will be really happy if you have a towel to clean you pooch off with as I guarantee soggy and sandy they will be. Of course one of the best parts is they will sleep like a baby! Parking is really easy, you can grab a spot on the street in the neighborhood close by or park at the beach in a metered lot (10 hour maximum @ 15 minutes per quarter). Well worth the trip.

I finally made it down to Rosie's and I gotta say it was awesome and worth the drive. It took me about 45 minutes to get down there from West Hollywood, but the parking was easy and convenient. I was able to park right on Ocean Blvd and just go up the steps and straight out to the beach. Lots of friendly dogs and sociable dog owners enjoying the sun. At the south end of the beach there are restrooms and vending machines. Make sure to bring a couple towels so you can dry off before jumping in the car. There is a grassy area just before you reach the road that is a great spot to play ball and shake out the sand.

Great place to take your doggy. They will have a lot of fun playing in the water. Bring quarters to pay for parking. Dog beach is through the regular beach. Long beach is known to be dog friendly.

I really enjoyed my time here. Me and my husband brought my kids and our 3 month old puppy. All of them had so much fun all the people were friendly and so were the other dogs. For being a dog park it was pretty clean. Would definitely go back if we ever vacation over here again.

Rosie's Beach is an off-leash, play and splash in the water, fetch balls, frisbees, etc and roll around in the sand kind of beach!  Happiness is dogs playing at the beach.

This beach area was officially renamed "Rosie's Dog Beach" on Aug. 3, 2010, to honor the life of Rosie the Bulldog, the dog who inspired this canine wonderland. It remains the only off-leash dog beach in L.A. County
